Geocaching

We talk now and then about geocaching and we share photos of doing it. But are you wondering what the heck it is??
It's a GPS treasure hunting game.
Basically you use a GPS to find a cache. A cache can be super small like a container from a gumball machine or a 35mm film canister, or it can be a big box. The "typical" caches are ammo cans or camoflauged tupperware containers. Sometimes people buy fake rocks or hollow out a log to make a very tricky cache.

When you find a cache, it's filled with random items called swag. These can be cheesy toys (lots of people take their kids geocaching), useful items for outdoors people, keychains, pretty much anything.

What we love about it is that we get out and see places we might never see otherwise. It takes us into little nooks and crannies as well as beautiful places off the beaten path. We get some activity while having fun. We are spending time together in the outdoors.
In geocaching there are trackable items called TRAVEL BUGS and GEOCOINS. These are fun to find and pass along. You can't keep them, so we "collect" them by taking pictures of them!
